The Kulpakji Jain Temple at Kolanupaka in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, Telangana, is a famous Shwetambar Jain pilgrimage centre about 80 km from Hyderabad. It is known for its idol of Lord Rishabhanatha, called Manikyaswami, made of a green stone.
The temple has a long history, with origins attributed to the tenth century and inscriptions from the twelfth century.
Story of Kulpakji Jain Temple
The temple houses three main idols, those of Rishabhanatha, Mahavira and Neminatha, with eight further Tirthankara images in the complex. The Manikyaswami idol is regarded as especially precious.
According to Jain accounts, the idol was worshipped in ancient times and later brought to Kolanupaka by a ruler of Kalyani.
