Legend narrates the tale of Vaishnavi, created by the combined energies of the three Goddesses to destroy evil. She performed penance in the caves of Trikuta. When chased by Bhairon Nath, she beheaded him at the cave entrance, and his head fell further up the mountain.

1. Is Yatra Registration mandatory?
Yes, Yatra Parchi (RFID card) is mandatory for every pilgrim. It is available at Katra bus stand, railway station, or online.
2. How difficult is the trek?
The 12km trek is moderate. It is well-paved with shades, water points, and shops. Battery cars are available from Ardhkuwari to Bhawan.
3. Why visit Bhairon Temple?
It is believed that the pilgrimage to Vaishno Devi is only complete after visiting the Bhairon Nath temple, located 1.5km above the Bhawan.
4. Are mobiles allowed?
Mobiles are allowed on the trek but strictly prohibited inside the main Bhawan (Cave). Free lockers are available at the entrance.
5. What is the dress code?
There is no strict dress code, but decent clothing is recommended. In winter, heavy woolens are required.
